Occasionally you might get a contact that you do not want to communicate with any more through WhatsApp and feel that it is necessary to block them. While WhatsApp claim that they cannot show for sure if you are blocked due to privacy reasons, there are a few indicators to find out if someone else has blocked you. We also attach the various ways to block someone from your WhatsApp depending on your smartphone of choice.

How can I tell if I have been blocked on WhatsApp?

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. Tap the profile of the person you want to know has blocked you.
  3. Check if you can see the contact’s “Last seen at..” or “Online” status under the contact name. Examine how many check marks are shown after a message. Two check marks indicate that the message has been sent and delivered.
  4. If the contact does not show an “Online” or “Last Seen” status and there is only one check mark next to sent messages then it is highly likely that you are being blocked by that contact. WhatsApp have stated that this is intentionally ambiguous to protect privacy so this is the best indicator possible.
