WhatsApp is one of the premier free messaging services for smartphones. It is available as an app across all the major platforms including iPhone, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry, enabling users to send free text messages, photos, videos and voice messages using an Internet connection. One question which we frequently encounter is how to delete pictures from WhatsApp to avoid them taking up valuable space on your smartphone memory card. Deleting a picture from WhatsApp is a simple procedure and can be done individually or you can delete entire conversations and all the pictures and media contained within them.

  1. Open WhatsApp on your smartphone.
  2. Tap on the conversation containing the pictures you wish to delete.
  3. Click on the contact name to open the Contact Info for the person you are having a conversation with.
  4. Select the “View all Media” button.Tap the photo you wish to delete from WhatsApp. Alternatively scroll through the conversation until you find the photo you wish to delete and tap it to open it.
  5. Press the delete trash can icon. Confirm that you wish to delete the photo by tapping the “Delete Photo” pop-up message. The photo will be deleted from your WhatsApp library.

Delete Pictures from WhatsApp as Part of Conversation
  1. Open WhatsApp on your smartphone.
  2. Tap the “Edit” button in the top left-hand corner of the conversation list.
  3. Tap the red “-” button on the conversation you wish to delete. Press the pop-up “Delete” button to confirm that you wish to delete the conversation. The conversation and all images contained in it will be deleted.

 
 
NOTE: After you delete pictures from WhatsApp you might also have to delete them from your device photo library if you have the option to automatically save WhatsApp pics. Check your photo library and photo streams to ensure that all versions have been deleted.
